5 Things you will want to do to make your Northwest Arkansas home "Move-In Ready"

5 Things you will want to do to make Your Home “Move-In Ready!”

  1. Change Locks

Whenever you are moving into a new home, it is important to change the locks. Because you can’t be sure exactly if you’ve collected all the copies from the previous owner/s, realtors and/or anyone else who could have a spare key. We recommend that you get new locks and new keys so that you can be 100% sure that you’re safe in your new home. Changing the locks is a good time to find a goof hiding place for your spare key, too!

  1. Main Water shut-off valve locations

Knowing where the critical utility shut-off locations is an essential part of getting used to your home. In the case that you have a water heater leak or a condensation line leak, you will want to shut the water off as soon as possible to prevent more water coming into your home. The longer water is present, the worse the damage will be. If you find that you do have a water leak or some other type of water related damage, call SERVPRO.

  1. Open new savings account

Save around $200 month for house repairs as they come up. Without knowing the exact age and maintenance history of your appliances, you may be in need of something new sooner rather than later.

  1. Replace air filters

Air filters are an important part of maintaining the cleanliness of your home. By making sure you change the air filters every 6 months, you are ensuring that the air you breathe will be cleaner.

  1. Check for water leaks and find source of incoming water

Be sure to inspect around, inside, above and underneath your home for water leaks and/or other damage that could lead to a water leak. If the previous owner had an issue and it wasn’t caught in your home inspection, you could have water damage in or around your home.
